When I loved you
in a thousand moments of pain
you wiped my tears.
little had i known
you bartered my sorrow
and craved the next drop
that you could wipe
with your pretty pink handkerchief.
little had i known
that my laughter would cost a fortune,
A soiled investment
too costly for your shared apartment,
for you to afford my smiles.
I never put you in a cage
you simply slided in
and lost the key.
